Cyanotypes with Sara Keller

County Arts Lab

Arts culture, Education

Join artist instructor Sara Keller for this workshop on making Cyanotypes on paper! Cyanotype Printing is a beautiful photographic printing process that produces a unique Prussian blue print, also commonly called a sun-print. Engineers and Botanists used the process well into the 20th century to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints or plant images.

Learn the basics of how to make a cyanotype print by mixing chemistry, coating paper, and developing the print using the sun. Sara will cover how to print using fresh and pressed plants as well as printing with three-dimensional objects (string, stones, glass jars, etc.)

Sara will also go over more experimental techniques including printing on fabric, wet cyanotype and toning.

For ages 15+. Sunday, May 5th 2024 from 1-3:30 PM. Location – The County Arts Lab, Unit 2E, Picton Armoury Building.
